Bossing It: Make Yourself Feel & Act Like You’re In Charge

There are so many things that can help you to get more out of life. You might be keen on trying to manifest a whole load of changes, and it can sometimes be hard to know where to begin. But being able to take the reins of a situation is always going to be a big help. For a lot of people, this shows up most often in the workplace. We would all like to be the one in charge, and whether or not you genuinely have that kind of role in your place of work, there is nothing wrong with feeling like it. After all, seeing it as done is the quickest way to making it so, so improving how you feel is an essential first step. Let’s look at how you can make yourself think and act like you’re in charge.

Know Your Stuff

Generally, the way to genuine leadership is to really know what’s going on. The more you know, the more you can attract people to you to help them with things they might be struggling with. So a fast way to put yourself in that kind of position is to get to grips with the situation as best as you can. In the workplace, that means learning everything you possibly can about the role you inhabit as well as the work of those around you. If you routinely demonstrate the ability to know what others miss, people will inevitably start to look up to you. Before you know it, you will be feeling like a real boss.

Be The Manager

It’s never a bad idea to act as though you are already in the role you want. You might have heard the old saying that you should dress for the job you want. Well, there is truth in that. If you present yourself as that particular role, you will be much more likely to feel in charge, and for others to treat you like you’re in charge too. Learn how to be a manager before you are one, and that will help hugely too. You could go to the Training Connection and learn all about project management and other management skills, or you could just practise your public speaking skills. Be the manager, and it will come around much sooner.

Sheer Confidence

Even if at times you find it hard to convince yourself that you are worth and capable, you should try to develop a real sense of confidence that allows you to push through regardless. Having real confidence in this way can really make a huge difference to your situation, and it will definitely be a great way to attract people towards you. With enough confidence, you will be able to assume the role of boss much easier than you might have thought, and probably much quicker too.

To really boss it requires determination and a good self-belief, so it is a good idea to be patient with yourself too. With any luck, you will soon be feeling much more like a boss.
